Abdullahi Musa, a Master of Chemistry student at Universitas Airlangga from Nigeria, successfully passed his thesis defense
Abdullahi Musa, an international student from Nigeria who enrolled in the Master’s program in Chemistry at Universitas Airlangga in 2020, successfully completed his thesis defense on Thursday, June 30, 2022. Musa’s thesis involved collaboration between researchers at Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia, and the Tuberculosis Research Center in Nigeria. He was supervised by Prof. Dr. Nanik Siti Aminah, M.Si., from Indonesia (Natural Product Chemistry Research Group, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Airlangga) and Dr. Olabisi Flora Davies-Bolorunduro from Nigeria (Centre for Tuberculosis Research, NIMR, Lagos, Nigeria). Musa presented and defended his thesis before the examination committee and was declared successful with a thesis titled “ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITIES OF THE EXTRACTS AND SECONDARY METABOLITE COMPOUNDS FROM CLAUSENA GENUS – A REVIEW”.

The closed-door examination lasted for 2 hours via Zoom Meeting with Prof. Dr. Nanik Siti Aminah, M.Si., serving as the chair of the examination committee, and four other committee members: Dr. Olabisi Flora Davies-Bolorunduro, Dr. Alfinda Novi Kristanti, DEA, Prof. Dr. Purkan, M.Si, and Dr. rer. nat. Ganden Supriyanto. Musa expressed his deep appreciation for his Master’s studies in Indonesia and hopes to apply the knowledge and experiences gained here in his home country, Nigeria.
