Mochamad Zakki Fahmi, M.Si., Ph.D., was selected as the outstanding lecturer in the field of science and technology at Universitas Airlangga in 2019. His participation in the selection process was motivated by the Department of Chemistry Chair and the Vice Dean II of the Faculty of Science and Technology. Despite not achieving the top rank in the 2017 competition, he persevered and eventually proved himself by securing the first place in the subsequent competition.

Born in Gresik on July 2, 1983, Zakki Fahmi had previously focused solely on scholarly pursuits. His achievements include best paper presenter at conferences, best poster awards, and recognition as the best oral presenter. He expressed surprise at winning the competition and representing Universitas Airlangga nationally.

During the selection process, after submitting administrative documents, he excelled in the interview phase where he outlined his commitment to the three pillars of higher education: education, research, and community service. Known for his innovations in physical chemistry education, he integrates video media into teaching and provides student feedback forms to enhance learning experiences.

Apart from teaching, Zakki Fahmi has authored several books and holds a patent for his research on graphene nanodot synthesis. He is also actively engaged in community service initiatives alongside the Faculty of Science and Technology. Currently serving as the Chair of the Master’s Program in Chemistry, he previously earned accolades as the best Program Chair at Unair in 2018.

Through his achievements, Zakki Fahmi aims to inspire young lecturers at Unair to strive for excellence, emphasizing the importance of starting with something right as a guiding principle in his work. His success underscores the impact of diligence and dedication in academia, aiming to propel Unair forward through collective efforts and shared goals.
