Chemistry Master’s Program with Postgraduate Program of Faculty of Science and Technology UNAIR promoted in Mataram
Students are the primary consumers of any study program. Their presence signifies the continuity of the learning process on campus, which in turn determines the sustainability of a study program within a university. The Postgraduate Program of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Universitas Airlangga (FST-UNAIR), comprising Master’s programs in Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, and a Doctorate in Natural Sciences, continues efforts to increase the number of both local and international students. Each program within FST-UNAIR has undertaken efforts to promote its programs through online media such as websites and various social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Guest lectures and public lectures, held at both national and international scales featuring guest lecturers from abroad, have also been organized by each program. Collaborative research activities, thesis supervision, and joint publications have been pursued to attract more international students.
Promotional activities for the Postgraduate Programs at FST-UNAIR are conducted through visits by Program Coordinators (KPS) from each program, including the Coordinators for Master’s in Chemistry (Yanuardi Raharjo, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D.), Biology (Prof. Dr. Alfiah Hayati, M.Si.), Biomedical Engineering (Prof. Dr. Suryani Dyah Astuti, M.Si.), and Doctorate in Natural Sciences (Dr. Dwi Winarni, M.Si.). Recently, these coordinators had the opportunity to conduct academic visits to four major universities in Mataram, including the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Universitas Mataram, the Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Applied Sciences at Universitas Pendidikan Mandalika Mataram, the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training at Universitas Islam Negeri Mataram, and the Faculty of Education at Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram (12/21).
The Program Coordinators (KPS) not only provide information about the postgraduate programs at FST-UNAIR but also convey various research insights, research group details, achievements within each program, and the types of scholarships available for prospective postgraduate students at FST-UNAIR. There is immense enthusiasm among undergraduate students and faculty members in the departments of Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics. Many undergraduate students are actively seeking information to pursue their Master’s studies at FST-UNAIR. Not only students but also faculty members with master’s degrees show great enthusiasm to further their studies at the doctoral level (Ph.D.).
During promotional events for the postgraduate programs, the KPS also seize opportunities to be speakers at guest lectures, alumni gatherings, and educational seminars at the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training at Universitas Islam Negeri Mataram. Guest lectures covered topics such as “Environmental-Friendly Supplement Feed Innovation” presented by Prof. Dr. Alfiah Hayati, M.Si., and “Alumni Management and Alumni Synergy in the MBKM Program” by Yanuardi Raharjo, Ph.D. These activities extend beyond mere promotion to fostering inter-institutional collaboration.
