Fakhri Firdaus Fasttrack Student and Bem Activist Successfully Passed the Chemistry Master Program Exam FST UNAIR
Fakhri Firdaus, a fast-track Master’s student in the 2019 Chemistry cohort under the supervision of Mochamad Zakki Fahmi, S.Si, M.Si., Ph.D., and Dr. Alfa Akustia Widati, S.Si, M.Si., successfully presented and defended his thesis before the examiners and was declared graduated on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, from 07:30-09:30 WIB. His thesis titled “Utilization of Ethanolamine to Enhance the Emission Capability of CuFe2O4-HA Nanohybrids and Its Application for Cell Detection.”
During the closed examination, which lasted for 2 hours via Zoom Meeting, Fakhri Firdaus faced a panel chaired by Mochamad Zakki Fahmi, S.Si, M.Si., Ph.D., and included four committee members: Dr. Alfa Akustia Widati, S.Si, M.Si., Dr. Imam Siswanto, M.Si., Dr. Hartati, M.Si., and Prof. Tjitjik Srie Tjahjandarie, Ph.D. The defense involved several questions and suggestions to refine Fakhri’s manuscript, notably from Prof. Tjitjik Srie Tjahjandarie, Ph.D., who advised, “The concept of reaction mechanisms should be included in the literature review section to facilitate understanding for general readers.”
Additionally, Dr. Hartati, M.Si., expressed appreciation: “Despite the pandemic conditions, you have worked diligently and successfully gathered sufficiently comprehensive research data.” As a requirement for obtaining his master’s degree, Fakhri also achieved a publication titled “Simple and fast design of folic acid-based carbon dots as theranostic agent and its drug release aspect,” published by ScienceDirect in the Journal of Materials Chemistry and Physics on July 15, 2021.
Fakhri, who also served as the Head of Student Executive Board (BEM) at the Faculty of Science and Technology in 2019, hopes that his research will positively impact the development of nanomaterials in Indonesia.
