UNAIR Chemistry Master Student Won Best Presenter Award at CoSCI 2022 International Conference
One of the Master’s students in Chemistry at UNAIR received an award as the best presenter in the “Life Science” category at The 3rd Conference on Sustainable Chemistry and Industry (CoSCI 2022), held online on September 28, 2022. The student’s name is Suhaili, focusing on natural product chemistry. During the presentation, Suhaili presented his research titled “Isolation and Structural Elucidation of Coumarine Derivative from n-Hexane Extract of Clausena Harmandiana’s root” in a detailed and outstanding manner. He successfully delivered dense material in a relatively short time.
The student under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Nanik Siti Aminah, M.Si., and Dr. Alfinda Novi Kristanti, DEA, explained the secondary metabolite compounds successfully isolated from the n-hexane extract of Clausena harmandiana roots. He managed to identify dentatin compound, a coumarin derivative, weighing 212 mg. Currently in his fourth semester, the student hopes to isolate other secondary metabolite compounds from Clausena harmandiana and conduct bioactivity tests as antimicrobials. “I am very happy and grateful to receive the best presenter award in the Life Science category. Hopefully, this award will motivate me even more in the future,” said Suhaili after participating in the CoSCI 2022 event.
