Baso Ilham, UNAIR Chemistry master student who won the Future Research Talent Award in Australia

Baso Ilham, a student of Chemistry master program of FST Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), has been awarded the Future Research Talent (FRT) 2023 program. This program is a research scholarship that aims to bring talented students and research staff from Indonesia for research visits to the Australian National University (ANU) Australia.

Future Research Talent awards provide opportunities for selected Indonesian research staff and students to come directly to the Australian National University for 12 weeks to conduct collaborative research in various Science, Health and Medical disciplines with funding coming from ANU Collages and Research Schools.

“I did my research at the College of Science, Research School of Biology, Division of Biomedical Science and Biochemistry and there I gained valuable new experiences,” said Baso. Baso’s research is related to the study of the mechanism of action of substrates on Entamoeba histolytica Formate-nitrite transporter (EhFNT) protein through molecular dynamics simulation studies. In addition, Baso was also given the opportunity to participate in every development program implemented by the Research School of Biology such as protein modeling and visualization, supercomputer management, seminars and so on. Baso hopes that these activities will be beneficial for the thesis research he is working on and the development of his soft skills.
