XFeedZyme UNAIR Helps Blitar Poultry Farmers Improve Feed Efficiency

UNAIR NEWS – The Community Service Team from the Department of Chemistry and the Proteomics Research Group of the PUI-PT Center for Bio-Molecular Engineering Research (BIOME), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), held an outreach session on the application of XFeedZyme on Saturday (September 12, 2026). The activity, aimed at a poultry farmers’ association in Gandusari District, Blitar Regency, sought to improve the productivity of local poultry farming. The event involved lecturers and students from the UNAIR Department of Chemistry, young researchers from PUI-PT BIOME UNAIR, as well as PT Pupuk Kujang as an industry representative.

XFeedZyme is a locally developed enzyme consortium specifically formulated to improve the digestibility of poultry feed. The innovation is produced at the Excelzyme Teaching Industry, PUI-PT BIOME UNAIR, and has been used by dozens of farmers across several cities in East Java.

The outreach program represents a practical effort by academics to strengthen the capacity of small- and medium-scale poultry farmers, particularly in addressing rising feed prices and improving production yields. Through the program, participants received comprehensive guidance, ranging from an introduction to feed technology and instructions for using XFeedZyme to practical solutions for common day-to-day poultry farming challenges.

Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, M.Si., one of the speakers, explained the crucial role of enzymes in poultry farming. She presented evidence of the effectiveness of XFeedZyme based on trials conducted on poultry farms.

“Field applications of XFeedZyme have been shown to improve the efficiency of nutrient absorption from feed, resulting in faster chicken growth and a better Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR),” explained Prof. Nyoman.

The session continued with a more interactive discussion led by other members of the Community Service Team, Dr. Ali Rohman and Fatiha Khairunnisa, M.Si., who responded directly to questions from the participants. The farmers showed great enthusiasm during the discussion session, actively seeking information about the technical guidelines for applying XFeedZyme and solutions to poultry-house management challenges in the Gandusari area. The activity concluded with the distribution of XFeedZyme product samples to the participants.

The involvement of academics in this outreach program reflects the synergy between higher education institutions, industry, and local communities. This collaborative effort not only provides opportunities for knowledge exchange between researchers and practitioners in the field, but also strengthens UNAIR’s applied research efforts in supporting national food security and improving the welfare of Indonesian poultry farmers.
