UNAIR Chemistry Department holds Molecular Docking Workshop
The Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Airlangga, organized The 8th International Conference and Workshop on Basic Applied Science (ICOWOBAS 2021) in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Malaysia), Tishk International University (Iraq), and Salahaddin University Erbil (Iraq). As part of the ICOWOBAS event series, several workshops were conducted by departments under the Faculty of Science and Technology, including the Department of Chemistry, which held an online Workshop on Computational Chemistry focusing on Molecular Docking using Dock6 via Zoom Meeting on August 23rd. This workshop was mentored by Dr. Imam Siswanto, M.Si., a lecturer at the Department of Chemistry, Universitas Airlangga, specializing in Physical Chemistry and Computational Chemistry. In practice, Dr. Imam was assisted by his junior, Kautsar Ul Haq, S.Si., M.Si.
The workshop was attended by 22 participants who had previously registered and received accounts with usernames and passwords sent via email. These accounts were used for remote access to run the Dock6 program. In addition to the accounts, participants were provided access to Google Drive to download necessary applications.
Each participant was required to prepare their laptops to directly practice using the provided applications. The participants were very enthusiastic during the workshop. Asma, one of the participants, actively followed the mentor’s instructions and immediately practiced installing the required programs for running Dock6. The event lasted for approximately 6 hours from morning to afternoon. Participants who encountered difficulties could directly ask questions to the mentor, ensuring that all participants could effectively participate in the Molecular Docking workshop.
Dr. Imam, as the mentor, mentioned that he was always available for further discussion on Molecular Docking with the participants, even after the event had concluded.
