UNAIR NEWS – Fourteen faculty members from the Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Airlangga (FST UNAIR), comprising departments of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics, traveled to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. The purpose of their visit was to present research findings at the Joint Conference ICOWOBAS 2019 held at KSL Hotel and Resort, Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

The fourteen faculty members who participated in the event included Prof. Win Darmanto, M.Si., Ph.D., Dr. Miswanto, M.Si., Dr. Nanik Siti Aminah, M.Si., Dr. Hamidah, Dr. Junairiah, Dr. Rosmanida, M.Kes., Dr. Listyani Suhargo, M.Si., Drs. Salamun, M.Kes., Mochamad Zakki Fahmi, M.Si., Ph.D., Siti Wafiroh, S.Si., M.Si., Purbandini, S.Si., M.Kom., Prof. Dr. Retna Apsari, M.Si., Dr. Muji Harsini, M.Si., and Dr. Riries Rulaningtyas, MT. They attended the conference held from July 16 to 17, 2019.

Speaking to UNAIR NEWS, Dr. Nanik mentioned that a day before the event, there was a meeting between the delegation from FST UNAIR and the Faculty of Science from UTM. During this meeting, she explained, researchers from FST UNAIR were introduced to researchers from FS UTM.

“In this meeting, the UNAIR delegation was led by the Vice Deans II and III, while the FS UTM delegation was led by Dr. Zaiton Bt Abdul Majid, Deputy Dean of Research and Collaboration,” Nanik clarified.

During the meeting, she added, both parties discussed intensifying cooperation between FST UNAIR and FS UTM in research, publications, student and staff exchanges. Equally important, she emphasized, was the discussion on hosting the 8th ICOWOBAS 2021 at Universitas Airlangga and FS UTM’s commitment to the success of the event.

“ICOWOBAS is a biennial joint conference initiated by FST UNAIR and FST UTM, first held in 2007 at UNAIR. Subsequently, the hosting alternates; in 2013, another member, Salahadin University, Erbyl – Iraq, joined,” Nanik concluded.
