Unair Chemistry Department Soars Higher: Ranked Top 3 in Indonesia in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025

Surabaya – The Department of Chemistry at Universitas Airlangga (Unair) has once again achieved a remarkable milestone by securing a spot among the top three in the QS Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings by Subject 2025. This accomplishment further solidifies Unair’s position as one of Indonesia’s leading institutions in the field of chemistry.
The QS World University Rankings by Subject is one of the world’s most prestigious university rankings, evaluating institutions based on academic reputation, employer reputation, and research impact. According to the QS data for the Chemistry subject, the top position is held by the Department of Chemistry at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), followed by Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in second place. These two departments are widely recognized for their seniority and extensive experience. Unair’s ranking in the top three is a testament to the national and global recognition of the quality of education and research within its Chemistry Department.
Prof. Mochammad Zakki Fahmi, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Chemistry at Unair, expressed gratitude and pride over this achievement. “This success is the result of the collective efforts of the entire academic community—lecturers, researchers, students, and alumni—who continue to contribute to the advancement and application of knowledge in chemistry.
