Chemistry UNAIR Alumni Sharing Equips Students for the Professional World
Surabaya, July 23, 2026 – The Chemistry Student Association of Universitas Airlangga (HIMAKI UNAIR) successfully held its annual Alumni Sharing event as part of the department’s student development program. The event featured Dodiet Hendro Setiawan, Director of PT Ajinomoto Indonesia and an alumnus of Chemistry UNAIR, as the keynote speaker under the theme “Beyond Graduation: Preparing Students for the Professional World.”
Held in Room 322A, the event was mandatory for students from the Class of 2022 and commenced at 1:00 PM (WIB). Dozens of students enthusiastically participated to gain valuable insights into the professional world and strategies for preparing for their future careers after graduation.
During his presentation, Dodiet Hendro Setiawan shared his career journey, beginning with his experiences as a Chemistry student at Universitas Airlangga to his current position as Director of PT Ajinomoto Indonesia. He emphasized that success in the workplace depends not only on academic excellence but also on strong communication skills, leadership, integrity, and a continuous willingness to learn and adapt to the evolving industrial landscape.
In addition to highlighting the importance of technical competencies, the speaker encouraged students to prepare themselves early through active participation in student organizations, internships, professional networking, and continuous competency development aligned with industry demands. Participants also received practical advice on the recruitment process, curriculum vitae (CV) preparation, and the professional attitudes expected by employers.
The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which students discussed challenges in entering the workforce, career opportunities for Chemistry graduates across various industries, and strategies for building sustainable professional careers. The participants’ enthusiasm was reflected in the lively discussions and numerous questions throughout the session.
Through this Alumni Sharing event, it is hoped that Chemistry students at Universitas Airlangga will gain a clearer understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the professional world while becoming more motivated to continuously develop their competencies in preparation for their future careers. The program also serves to strengthen the relationship between alumni and current students, allowing alumni to share valuable experiences and inspiration with the next generation of Chemistry UNAIR graduates.
